New Jersey Auto Insurance Buyers Guide
 |
There are two common types of New Jersey auto insurance
policies:
STANDARD NEW JERSEY AUTO INSURANCE POLICY — The Standard Policy
provides a number of different coverage options and the opportunity to buy
additional protection. The Standard Policy is the type of policy chosen by most
New Jersey drivers.
BASIC NEW JERSEY CAR INSURANCE POLICY — The Basic Policy usually costs
significantly less than a Standard Policy, but provides limited benefits. It is
not for everyone, but it does provide enough coverage to meet the minimum
insurance requirements of New Jersey law. The Basic Policy is an option for
those with few family responsibilities and few assets to protect.

It is also important to know that the terms LIMITS and DEDUCTIBLES mean.
- LIMITS — The maximum dollar amount the insurer will pay following
an auto accident. Limits vary with each coverage within the New Jersey Auto
Insurance policy.
- DEDUCTIBLES — Payments you have to make before the insurer
pays. For example, a $750 deductible means that you pay the first $750
of each New Jersey car insurance claim.
